GATE Mission
The mission of Transition Engineers is to create innovations that disrupt the business as usual course, effectively manage the risks of un-sustainable resource use and destructive environmental impacts by carrying out shift projects for existing engineered systems and existing businesses and organizations. Shift projects achieve the COP21 Paris Agreement requirement of 80% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Global Association for Transition Engineering provides a membership and support network, a platform for carrying out research, teaching and certification and a forum for communicating successful projects that rapidly reduce fossil fuel use and manage restricted production of these valuable resources over the long term.

Transition Engineering Foundation Concepts
Engineers work directly for private good, but also have a social responsibility. Just over 100 years ago the relatively new fields of industrial and civil engineering made a major evolutionary leap when safety engineering was born out of human response of 62 engineers to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Disaster. Transition Engineering applies the same concepts that guide the practice of safety engineering to the project of energy and material transition.
- Prevent what is preventable
- Be honest with employers and the public about the problems and the possible solutions
- Professional engineering work must be based on knowledge and experience
- Follow the standards to protect life and health, now and in the future, by right of responsibility
